MigraMovies will screen Fifteen Zero Three Ninth January Two Thousand Sixteen, directed by Petra Bauer and Marius Dybwad Brandrud. After the screening there will be a discussion with Petra Bauer and Carolina Sinisalo.

This film is about how everyday routines and gestures change when a mother loses her child in the violence that Sweden’s suburbs have been exposed to since the early 2000s. The film shows how the home can accommodate both mourning and mobilization. The directors, Bauer and Brandrud, express that, “This is a film about those who take responsibility for their neighborhood and their context, who remain when society has left.”

Petra Bauer and Carolina Sinisalo will join this event and will lead the discussion that will occur after the film. We hope to foster a meaningful conversation by going beyond the media conversation about violence and start discussing the intricacies of collective grief for the individual but also in our communities and as a society. And from this grief, how can we collectively organize to challenge the structural inequalities that persist in our society.
